Cool machines; The Echo 2511 TES
I know, I know... The Echo 2511 TES is by no means a new machine. But it definitely is a Cool Machine.
I love that little saw. It outperforms many bigger saws, and the weight..... WOWWW. I mainly use this saw for lighter pruning, but it does not shy away from the bigger 10 to 12 inch thick branches. I also use this saw as a carver.
I do one-hand the saw a lot, even though rules say you are not supposed to... But I only know one or two guys who do not one-hand their saws, and they cause a lot of property damage.... One-handing is not something I want to promote, but it allows the more experienced user to manipulate the direction in which the cut-offs are falling. Preferably away from all obj...

Well, 6 weeks on and I'm still not doing very well. So I'll give you some older footage of some very old saws. There was a collector's day some time ago at a steammill not too far away. You can see some very old engine powered saws in action. Old Dolmar's, old McCulloch's, two man chainsaws, saws with water cooled engines, etc. Enjoy!

Gas chainsaws are ereplaceable for cutting the trunks or tree branches over 16" with the currently battery powered power saw technology. But battery saw are or should be a staple for climbing saws in the tree work community. I cant go back. Unless all my battery saws break and theres no stores close by. Thanks for this comparison it's a real eye opener to some pretty basic stuff... The T542iXP doesn't seem 'stronger' to me based on your video it just needs softer hands and it cuts at exactly the same rate. The clutch cover on the basic T540iXP is utter plastic crap anyway and you've confirmed exactly what I was thinking - replace it with a T542i XP cover (or a 540i metal cover at least it's more rigid!) that is obviously wider as it accommodates a clutch so can bale out debris more easily. It isn't rocket science. Happy Christmas by the way!

@@DUTCHHUSKY66Treesandforest I'm really not convinced it is based on your video? the clutch seems to be giving an illusion of more power when really, is it just allowing a heavy handedness with no stopping (no criticism) - the motor/power appears to be the same. @@angelwars3176 I haven't done a torque test, it feels a bit more torquey, but it is nothing world shaking differently. It could be a similar engine with similar power, just allowed more power through the chip. The clutch makes that possible, because the slipping startup prevents stuff breaking. Left of right, I don't know if it really more powerful. But it seems/feels a tad bit stronger. It was disapointing though, because I expected a world of difference, and did not get that. I do like the better clutch cover and other minor tweaks. My biggest concern with the old saw is the break system that keeps filling up with crap after which it fails and stays on 'brake' mode. I have to disassemble and clean that weekly. Hopefully the new saw is better constructed.

Thanks for posting this. From what I can gather it's just a T540i with a clutch so how it generates more power I don't get - smoother I can understand but more torque? It seems a backward step to me losing the direct power from the motor, surely the bogging down issue could be handled electronically. They were talking about a battery upgrade but it seems to be sold with the BLi200X at present - is this what you are using here? One thing that bugs me with both my T50i's is they can every so often hesitate when you hit the throttle i.e the chain doesn't hook up and go immediately. I think this is a throttle sensor issue but no big deal..

    • @DUTCHHUSKY66Treesandforest

More torque is possible because of the gentle startup with a clutch. If you would apply it directly into chain and bar without a clutch, they would get ripped apart. For light pruning I often grab an echo 2511 tes, lovely little machine. The clutch on the 542 I guess, will give a slower chain start so they can improve on the full power torque, because there will be lesser stress on all the parts when starting a run. And the feel might be more familiar, but it's all a guess, since I have never seen or touched one yet. Have a great day!

You ever do a 6 to 8 hour days in Trees? You going to need at least four battery's. I would rather buy 3 of the Husqvarna T540 XP Mark III for the same cost as one saw and four battery's.

@@ThatRUclipsbloke Not for years, but if I did i would definitely not be using a petrol saw. Noise, fumes constant pull starting! (unless you're one of these folk who just leave it on constant tick-over..) Two batteries will do, you simply recharge one while using the other. The BLi200X batteries charge up in 50 minutes on a QC330 charger or at worst you can rig up in vehicle charging.

On which saw are you running that chain and bar? How is it working for you? I'm looking for experience with huskys x precision parts, but cant find anything online. They seam to be quiet rare at the moment. Their sp21g chain is quite good and balanced, but since i mostly prune and remove deadwood (smaller cuts), i am looking for something equal to stihls 1/4 chain.

I'm still running it, bought it as a kit. 2 chains, a sprocket and a bar. I like it a lot. Seems to wear less than the panther. I run it on a t540i xp at the moment. Still fiddling a bit with the filing/sharpening. I feel there is more speed to be gained, so I'm trying out different file thicknesses, different angles and such.

When it’s been burning for a few hours it gets up to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. I agree the fire is so healing and the energy is so relaxing. It’s probably my favorite purchase! I live in the Western North Carolina mountains in the US and it’s perfect.

Well, I see it more and more on RUclips already. They roll them out the factory in batches of a 1000 per time, so it won't be long before any modded saws show up. Outside and inside. Hotsaws 101 seems pretty skilled in porting these newer types. Exterior parts can be done with brand products by just about every owner. What I don't understand though, how and why are they working with 2 different producers for their light bars. Same lay out, 2 brands. Tsumura for the european market, sugihara for north America.....

@@robertshoemaker6204 from what I've heard, a good ported saw will have more air and fuel with oil through it, thus make it run cooler, which will improve its longevity... Here in europe though not many are ported. No one really does that professionally here, nor does our wood require it. Those bars might indeed have something to do with covid. Not enough workers per factory to make it happen in time, so that might explain the use of both those brands. They are not fans of each other though, I've written to yugi sugihara some years ago. Talked about their bars, and also mentioned the tsumura brand. After that he sent me an internal info sheet on why the tsumura's aren't any good in their opinion. So I am curious how husqvarna works around this rivalry. Been nice talking to you! Stay safe !
